I'm Diane Kochilas, host of My GreekTable on public television, 
     and I am thrilled to invite you to my online cooking school.

In these classes, you’ll learn how to cook and understand food intuitively, how to pair ingredients and understand the basics
of Greek and Mediterranean cooking traditions. 

The classes are designed to offer a lot more than just recipes.

With each class, you’ll gain insight into the healthy, delicious
foods of the Mediterranean and you’ll learn a new, flexible 
approach to dinner, without stress, and with an understanding

    Why is the Mediterranean Diet good for you?

    The Mediterranean Diet is by many accounts the world’s healthiest. 
     
    Almost daily, anywhere you look there is a new article or scientific report about the beneficial effects the Mediterranean Diet on our physical and emotional well-being. Even UNESCO has recognized this way of eating and in 2013 added the Mediterranean Diet to its intangible cultural heritage of humanity list. . 
     
    But just what is the Mediterranean Diet? It is the timeless, plant-rich way of eating common to the people and cultures that border the Mediterranean Sea. There are similarities in the traditional foods found throughout the entire region. Fresh fruits and vegetables, beans and legumes, whole grains, nuts and seeds, healthy fats such as extra virgin olive oil, lean proteins such as fresh fish, vibrant spice and herb palettes, and limited consumption of dairy and red meat are the basic tenets of the Mediterranean Diet. 
     
    The Mediterranean Diet is beneficial for just about everything, from mental acuity to inflammation, cancer, and heart disease. But best of all, the Mediterranean Diet combines two seemingly disparate qualities: It’s super healthy and very delicious! 
     
    Join me to learn more about this wonderful, healthy way to live and eat. In this series of five classes, with more in the pipeline, we will cook some of the best and tastiest health-giving Greek and Mediterranean recipes. You’ll learn how to prepare simple, easy Mediterranean dishes, mostly plant-based, that will make you feel good and that are good for you.

    I have been sharing Greek cooking with people all over the world for more than three decades, in classes, books, several tv series, restaurant work, and now online in this exciting new venture.

    I am the host, creator and co-producer of My Greek Table, a 13-episode per season cooking travel show about Greece. The series is in its 3rd season and airs nationally on American public television, as well as on Amazon Prime int he US and UK, Australia, China and Greece. 

    For as long as I can remember, I've cooked. It's an act of giving and sharing and I hope to impart that to you when you take my classes. Greece is the mother of the Mediterranean Diet, and in almost everything I cook there is either a little or a lot of Greece! Olive oil, great produce, nuts, legumes, herbs, honey and so much more are some of the things you will encounter in my classes and recipes.
